We totally get it - new equipment may be costly, and that is where energy rebate programs come in. Upgrading to energy-efficient devices may help you cut heating and cooling costs.

With local, provincial and national rebate programs, the Canadian government is committed to reducing your carbon footprint and helping you where it counts the most – in your wallet.

Here are a few rebate options for homeowners in the Edmonton area that might just get you some cash back.

  • Insulation
  • Windows & Doors
  • HVAC systems
  • Appliances
  • Lighting fixtures and bulbs
  • Solar panels

Insulation – through the Canadian Greener Homes Grant, homeowners can increase the insulation in their homes, crawl spaces, basements, ceilings, attic, exposed floors, or exterior walls.

Doors and Windows – there are a wide array of options to choose from when upgrading the energy efficiency of the doors and windows of your home.

Air Sealing – when thinking of a retrofit strategy to improve your home’s energy efficiency, our energy experts will first look at reducing air from leaving your home.

Heat Pump – switching to more energy-efficient heating equipment such as heat pumps will cut down on both your carbon emissions and utility bills.

Solar Renewable Energy – the Canada Greener Homes Initiative gives you the ability to obtain a grant for installing technology with solar renewable energy.

Lighting fixtures – The CEIP (Clean Energy Improvement Program) allows for financing for lighting upgrades, such as indoor lighting controls (motion and daylight sensing), and permanently installed and hardwired LED lighting fixtures such as downlight, track, ceiling, wall-mounted, or porchlight fixtures. Must be ENERGY STAR.

Below are Edmonton’s very own unique rebate programs:

Home Energy Retrofit Accelerator (HERA) program provides additional rebates for energy efficient upgrades for Edmonton residents, without a set maximum.

The Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) provides low interest financing for energy efficient upgrades, paid out through your property taxes; available on a per municipality basis in Alberta.

St. Albert is soon to launch it’s own Home Energy Efficiency Grant offering additional rebates to residential property owners to implement energy efficiency upgrades (set to launch tentatively December 2022)
